Huge congratulations to Â鶹¹ú²úAV Fields School Alumni Uwitonze Wenham-Beckford for being shortlisted in the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards on Monday 24 February at York Racecourse.
Uwitonze was nominated in the Newcomer Category in the prestigious awards which recognise and reward the skill, passion and commitment of those working across the British racing industry.
Uwitonze has always had an interest in horses, initially volunteering at Leicester’s Urban Equestrian Academy for a remarkable eight years. After her GCSEs at Â鶹¹ú²úAV Fields, she went on to graduate from the prestigious Riding a Dream Academy Khadijah Mellah Scholarship programme in 2023.
Since then, she has completed the foundation course at the British Racing School and was head person during this time. She is currently an apprentice groom for Karl Burke,
The Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards received over 200 entries from across the British racing and breeding industry, and following a competitive judging process, the expert panel has agreed a shortlist of 10 nominees for each of the six award categories.
